The APEEF, the Parents’ Association of the Fundamental

The APEEF, the Parents’ Association of the Fundamental  School – commonly referred to simply as the parents’ association.
The action “Write a Letter to Saint Nicholas”, as it is called, was created in 1985 by the informal association Jugendhaus. This later led to the creation of the APEEP, the Parents’ Association of Primary School Pupils.

• As a local association, we naturally take part in many events organised by the municipality of Kayl. These range from the parades for Buergbrennen, Saint Nicholas Day and Barbelendag, to information evenings, as well as major events such as the Children’s Cavalcade, the Flower Festival or the Christmas market.
We also organise our own events in the Schungfabrik in Tétange, such as our very popular Halloween party for children.
• Until last year, we covered the cost of the bouncy castle for the “Nuit du Sport” in Parc Ouerbett.
• This year, the municipality took over this expense for the first time.
• Second donation to TamTam White & Friends for the children of our municipality.
With the help of our stands and activities, we try not only to show that we are an active association but also to raise funds.
And since nothing is more precious than a child’s smile, we gladly use our resources for the children of the primary school and the pre-school.
As the APEEF is not a one-man show, the committee meets several times a year to exchange ideas and organise our various activities. These are usually pleasant moments spent in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere.
One of our largest expenses is our Boxemännchen Action during the Saint Nicholas season, during which every child and the entire school staff receive a small brioche figure (Boxemännchen) from us.
At the pre-school, we additionally provide €10 per child so the staff can offer the little ones an extra treat.
This year, we are making our second donation to TamTam White & Friends. They have selected the municipality of Kayl for the second year in a row, as there are many families here with limited means.
It is a Christmas initiative: every child from a socially disadvantaged family receives a budget of €10 to choose a gift for themselves in a large supermarket.

• Information stand during the Welcome Day at the Schungfabrik
• Drinks stand at the harbour of the old Faubourg during the Children’s Cavalcade in Kayl
• Cotton-candy stand during the Flower Festival at Parc Ouerbett in Kayl
• Financial contribution to school celebrations
• Participation in the school festival with our unique tricycle
• Halloween party for children
